History

In 2007, the Hebei Spirit and Samsung barge crane collision caused the largest marine oil spill in the Korean history, which had significant impacts on the physical and mental health of the local people.

After the accident, Taean Health Center and County Hospital was designated as the Taean Environmental Health Center(TEHC) by the Korean Ministry of Environment(MOE) in 2008. TEHC is monitoring the adults and children living in the oil spill disaster area and providing health consultations and health promotion programs even now.
